Stay tuned for more info!!

How COVID-19 affects us:
Our camp is largely volunteer-run by members of our community – many of whom are artists, entertainers, teachers, and service industry workers being impacted economically during this time. We encourage you to send your support directly to those marginalized and impacted in our community. Here are a few sites that list local direct payment links.

We as an organization stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and work to dismantle systems of oppression.

About Online Camp 2020:

Our Mission Statement: Gainesville Girls Rock Camp is an organization that uses music and performance as a platform to encourage self-esteem, self-expression, and community for girls and gender-expansive youth.

GGRC usually functions as a week-long summer day camp that accepts regional youth aged 10-17 years old. Campers are taught to play an instrument and are placed into bands. With the encouragement of their camp counselors, each band writes a song which they ultimately perform at a live music venue downtown at a public showcase following camp for their friends and families.

This year, Gainesville Girls Rock Camp will be holding a week of classes, workshops, and community events online.

From July 27th through July 31st, with a “Share What ya Like” Open Mic Night (online/Zoom) performance on August 1st from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Monday through Friday will be programmed with pre-recorded short music tutorials (10-15 mins), workshops, and lunchtime Livestream concerts. There will also be a few group assemblies Monday & Wednesday at 11 am and Friday at 3 pm (for campers and staff only).

We are currently exploring ways to make camp accessible and to have the creative content exist online to share for years to come! We want to be able to provide our campers with whatever gear they need to practice their instrument of choice, so our Gear-lending Library will be available the week prior to any registered campers. If you have applied for camp already, please let us know how we can best help your camper this year, with this camper accessibility survey.

Throughout the year GGRC’s organizers remain active in facilitating private and group music lessons with campers who are interested in performing outside of camp. Please let us know if you are interested in private lessons for your camper!
